About Cedarwood

Cedarwood is a trusted community development charity that has worked in some of the hardest hit communities across the North of Tyne for over 40 years. We provide a range of services and solutions that create the space for communities and individuals to significantly improve quality of life in areas of social mobility, learning, education, community cohesion and the goals and changes they want to achieve.

We have a proven record of successfully delivering

  • Food insecurity provisions which include expert consultancy on community meals, and social supermarkets from fixed base to pop up.
  • Connecting communities and reducing isolation with a range of diverse groups of people within communities.
  • OFSTED teaching provision in Catering and Social Care with bespoke training models and facilities tailored to support learners with multiple disadvantages.
  • Outreach engagement provisions tailored to reach specific groups of people.
  • Poverty interventions and poverty proving solutions.

Cedarwood delivers in and out of a vibrant community hub at the heart of the Meadow Well estate in North Tyneside.  The Cedarwood Hub is open to all residents from far and wide be it from the Meadow Well  or from much further afield   If you are looking to join a vibrant community with a warm welcoming Hello, pop in and join in the fantastic community activities from Bingo to Crafts and so much more in between. A designated playroom for the children to an amazing Bistro where a super tasty meal will fill your tum and not leave you disappointed.  A staff team that will listen and support you at times of need and a Social Supermarket for a low-cost discounted shop.

At Cedarwood we aim to provide an inclusive, safe and supportive space for all of the residents of the Meadow Well estate. Our main areas of focus are surrounding food poverty, early years and families, vulnerable adults and the elders.
